Very little will change next month, but as November starts, action will return to the other side of the Atlantic, as the World Series of Poker resumes. The final table will decide the name of the winner in what is regarded as the most important competition for poker players. There is tremendous interest over the internet for this competition and poker players are anxiously waiting for the WSOP to conclude. At PKR, there are tournaments that promise to make players rich overnight and a handful that act as satellite for live events. This is by far the most popular way of qualifying for a competition that has a prohibitive buy-in, as the package includes both the entry fee and the expenses. American players who can't use the aforesaid poker room and can't afford to travel to Europe for the live events, are going to keep an eye on local tournaments. Such an event just ended, with Mohammad Moeini winning the third stop of the 2014/2015 World Series of Poker Circuit. It all happened at the IP Biloxi in Louisiana where the series concluded a the main event that set players back $1,675 and attracted a total of 301 players. The winner took home more than $100,000, a precious gold ring and also won a seat into the season-ending National Championship. It was a nice reward for a few days of top-notch poker, but it wasn't easy to claw his way all the way to the top. The World Series of Poker Circuit started last week and it finally came to an end, with Tristan Wade being the last man standing in a tournament that attracted several poker professionals. This time, the series stopped at the Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida, with a total of 12 gold rings up for grabs and the flagship tournament was the $1675 Main event. A total of 303 players participated and among those who found it worthwhile to sit down at the tables were former World Series of Poker winners. Jamie Gold remains the best paid world champion, with his victory in the main event resulting in a paycheck of $12 million. By comparison, Greg Raymer received a smaller amount for achieving the same performance and his career was littered with various scandals, including one that saw him arrested for a short period of time. Unfortunately for them, they didn't make the final table where Tristan Wade brought a healthy stack and started as a favorite over several poker pros. Zo Karim, David Diaz and Chance Kornuth were all present, but except for David who made the heads-up, the other two had to settle for an amount of less than $30,000. By comparison, Tristan was the only player to win a six digit prize and by prevailing in this tournament, he also secured a seat in the season-ending National Championship. Florida road trip in March. Your thoughts, suggestions and recommendations?
My good friend from medical school and I are doing a little road trip around the South-East US in March. Since we both spend more time on Reddit than any other site, who better to talk to than fellow Redditors? This is our schedule, any input would be appreciated. I'll include the hotel we are staying at to aid suggestions. This road trip begins right after we are done in New Orleans with Mardi Gras March 9th. Biloxi, MS, at the Hard Rock Casino March 10th. Jacksonville, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown March 11th and 12th. Daytona Beach, hotel undecided March 13th and 14th. Orlando, hotel undecided but would prefer closer to UCF March 15th. Gainesville at the Hilton UF After that we head up to Atlanta and Athens. I'm most familiar with Orlando, usually staying in and around the Lake Buena Vista area but since most of my friends are around UCF it's the wrong location for me. I'm less familiar with Daytona and have only ever been to Gainesville or Jacksonville once before We don't have anything planned for any of our stops, we just want to go out, have a good time and meet new people. If any Redditors want to join us for a beer you're more than welcome. We're pretty big drinkers so it's not a '1 beer and out' situation with us. Ever A little about us. Well, we became very good friends in med school and are both doctors now. He's late 20s from Atlanta and I am in my mid 20s from England. We listen to a pretty wide array of music but nothing in the heavy metal area. Our favourite TV shows are The Wire, Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Archer, Peep Show and The Inbetweeners. We're both well informed about politics, economics and religion but only ever discuss theories and ideas, we don't get into anything confrontational between ourselves or other people.
